saleh on May 9th, 2005International Womens Peace Service (IWPS) is pleased to present two new videoss from Palestine:
“No Sin to Be Different: Young Women’s Resistance in Palestine” (10 min., .wmv or .rm)
Presents interviews with women ages 16-31, along with footage from demonstrations and other activities featuring teenage girls in the forefront of nonviolent resistance.
Women Interviewed:
Shams Mohammed Asi, 16, of Qarawat Bani Zeid and the new group “Flowers Against the Occupation,”
Iltizam Ayad Morar of Budrus Village, Samaha and Namareq of Project Hope in Nablus.
Amal Jadou of Aida Refugee Camp, now a policy advisor to President Abbas.
“Inside Tsochar Prison” (7 min., .wmv or .rm)
Offers a rare look inside an Israeli immigration detention center. IWPS volunteer Kate, who shot the footage with a smuggled video camera, says, “The footage is not as exciting as I would wish, because the camera was confiscated soon after I started shooting with it, but it shows, I think, both the crowded conditions and the camaraderie that quickly develops between women of many cultures imprisoned together.”
